Beneath are white pantaloons with 5 layers of lace showing. Her slip is edged in pink embroidery. The lace hat has a spray of white flowers on a base of Lilac material matching the dress. Black shoes. Doll is on a stand with her Parasol..

A Staffordshire Porcelain factory noted for their High Quality Tableware, Table Centrepieces and Cupids. All levels of the hand-painted floral decoration on this Superb piece are SIGNED R. PILSBURY (1830-1897). Richard Pilsbury studied at school of design in home town, BURSLEM. Flower painting in later years - based on sketches from nature. At MINTON factory from 1866 to 1892. Art Director of MOORE from 1892-97 the year he died. MARKED: Impressed MOORE.

BOXED SET of 12 CLASSIC'S BOOKS. "Cameos of Literature" is the title on the leather-bound box in gold embossing. Publisher: London: Frederick Warne and Co. and New York 1894. They were printed by Ballantyne, Hanson & Co Edinburgh and London. These books were compiled by Mrs Valentine, Editor of "The Chandos Classics". The pages are gold edged and are in perfect condition.

FRENCH - MARBLE BANQUET OIL LAMP - ALL ORIGINAL.

A very fancy decorated cast brass base supports the tapered Sienna marble column. The clear glass font has fine faceted decoration near its top edge. The ball shade is etched  which compliment this simple attractive oil lamp. The burner is a Kosmos type with a sunburst and stars on the wick adjuster. This lamp is all original.

VICTORIAN - BANQUET LAMP - RARE- Multi-composition OIL LAMP.

Purchased in Ennis, County Clare, Ireland. The brass base is 5.5 inches square and supports the porcelain and spelter column. The four brass feet are decorative and adjustable. The cream porcelain body is about the size and like an elongated ostrich egg, and is decorated with hand-painted flowers of pink, yellow and mauve. The spelter metal column directly above, depicts figures of two cherubs complete with their fishing net and catch of seafood and seashells. At the rear of the cherubs, is a Pheasant hanging by its feet. The all brass font has an interesting spiral fluted design with embossed attachments, which is attached to the heads of the cherubs. The British Made Duplex burner has a flame snuffer. The 9 inch diameter white-glass helmet shaped shade rests on the 4 inch gallery of the burner, and has a clear glass base which enables additional light to further enhance this lamp when in operation. This all-original lamp is of tall proportions. No identification marks were found on the porcelain when dismantled. The original chimney has the Griffin brand.

"Miller" VICTORIAN hanging library or parlour oil lamp.

This lamp is complete with matching glass shade and glass bowl, and the hand-painted flowers are red Peony roses on a green background. The font is a brass drop-in type. The brass frame is decorative and comes with a full set of crystal prisms. This lamp is all original and is complete with clutch mechanism for lowering the lamp for lighting purposes.

Mark: Miller on filler cap and flower design number 325 hand painted on inside of shade.

VICTORIAN BRASS TABLE OIL LAMP.

All components of this decorative lamp are brass, including the brass fringe surrounding the lower edge of the brass dome shade. The shade is supported on a tri-frame mounted off the burner, which is marked HS on the wick adjuster. Complimenting the overall appearance is the matching impressed designs surrounding the components in a chain like pattern of flower and stems. Three various coloured cabochons are symmetrically positioned midway into the shade, which would glow for effect when this lamp is lit. This lamp is all original.

GERMAN "SITZENDORF" PORCELAIN TABLE OIL LAMP.

The white porcelain main body is typical Continental hard-paste porcelain with applied coloured floral decoration. The matching porcelain drop-in font is positioned in the top of the main body. Four cherubs are spaced about the main body, facing outwards and supporting the font on their backs with their hands holding it from behind. The cherubs are naked except for a blue or mauve waistband, purple hair ribbon and brown strap over their left shoulder, and are standing on a brown ground with varying coloured applied flowers, and green leaves and foliage. Four large flowers with gilded highlights are positioned below the left foot of each cherub, on the edge of the base.

The burner is a Messenger No 2 Duplex marked on the white button wick adjusters. The burner is complete with snuffer and raising mechanism for lighting and has a clip-on type fitting. The light green replacement glass shade is etched and enhances the greens of the floral porcelain decoration.  

MARK: Under glaze  ≠ depicts Sitzendorf, Germany.

Very small chips to flowers, otherwise VGC.

VICTORIAN squat RUBY GLASS dressing-table -- OIL LAMP.

The ribbed-ruby glass oil reservoir or font base with its flat bottom enables the lamp to be moved from room to room. It has a Duplex double burner complete with flame snuffer screwed into the font. The ruby glass ball-shaped shade with its small repair is original and has gilded decoration. This lamp is all original and was bought in Melacca, Malaysia.

Shade has a pro'y restored crack.

VICTORIAN: "Sunflower" squat table oil lamp.

I believe this porcelain lamp could be English, and has all original components. The four feet are also decorated with under glaze blue paintings, and the porcelain is ivory in colour. The under glaze blue decoration are sunflowers on the main body and the porcelain drop-in font has a Duplex type burner with a flame snuffer and raising mechanism, and it clips on to the font. The twin wick adjuster has one black button marked Messenger No.2. The font also has under glaze decoration. The main body has a darker colour being almost caramel beneath the glaze, near the top and bottom, including the feet. The Oregon shade is clear etched and has cut grape decoration with a ruffled top.

Interestingly a similar lamp, not including the shade, is pictured on page 126 of Peter Cuffley’s book, "Oil & Kerosene Lamps in Australia". This lamp is illustrated in the catalogue of Maple & Co, Tottenham Court Road, London, W.

MARK: Word "Sunflower" on base.

VICTORIAN BLACK CAST IRON HANGING OIL LAMP.

This type of hanging lamp was used in the dining room or parlour, and very popular in the average household in Victorian times and early 20th C in Australia. The three pairs of cast iron link chains that support the cast iron font cup, are finely cast with bird decoration brackets, which incorporate the fourteen-inch diameter shade ring. These cast iron links are attached to three brass ladder-link chains, which move over pulleys housed in the cast iron ceiling rose and has a weighted raising mechanism of chains and pulley’s for lowering the assembly for ease of lighting this lamp. It has a six inch diameter brass font and large round wick burner which is Marked Intensiv * Blitz Lampe and resides in the central cup.

The repaired 14-inch diameter white glass shade has hand-painted flower and bird decoration.

SUBSTANTIAL QUALITY - VICTORIAN ROYAL WORCESTER OIL LAMP. The large gilded base has four feet. Mounted on this circular base is the porcelain main body and is ivory in colour with pronounced crafted high-relief scrolls in an Art Nouveau fern leaf decoration, which has gilded highlights. Hand-painted floral decoration in colours of green, red-brown and olive-green enhances this lamp and this area has gilded highlights. The burner and four inch gallery and flame snuffer, is also gilded and is marked DUPLEX PA (Plume & Attwood). Magnificent quality cut crystal original shade. It is my belief that this lamp was most likely sold onto the American market in competition with other "Gone with the Wind" type oil lamp manufacturers. MARKS: Stamp of Ovington Brothers was the NEW YORK selling dealer. MODEL or Pattern No. 1411 was produced in 1889.

Reg. No. 141380 also tables the year as 1889. In matt-black handwriting are the initials. WO.

Royal Worcester Mark of from 1876 stamped on the base, which is the crown over trademark.

VICTORIAN - ROYAL WORCESTER BANQUET OIL LAMP.

Four feet in the form of animal hooves are equally spaced about the base and directly above each hoof is a satyr, being Greek mythical and represented as a bearded, horned goat like head, facing outwards.

The ivory coloured porcelain main body of this most beautiful of lamps is slightly concave and has embossed decoration with colours of pale sage-green, cinnamon, light brown and rose-lilac. Hand painted gilded highlights enhance this lamp. The font is a brass drop-in type that has a domed top and colour finish that could be described as blackish-olive green. The burner is a screw in type Duplex with four-inch gallery. The frosted 7.5-inch diameter ball shade has five rows of gilded embossed Fleur-de-lys, with a gilded heat ring at the top opening that has fine dot decoration. This lamp was most likely sold into the American market in competition with "gone with the wind" lamps.

MARKS : Model or pattern number is 1156 and represents the year of 1886.

ETCHING FRAMED and SIGNED by J.C. GOODHART. Joseph Cristian Goodhart was born Adelaide 1875 and died Victor Harbour in 1954. Painter and ETCHER. He eventually owned one of the biggest shops in Broken Hill. In the late 1920's a set of etchings was bought by Herbert HOOVER (later President Hoover), then working at Broken Hill for his Mining Ticket. That set is now in the White House Archives. He had many credits and distinctions. The scene is old McGipps stoking his campfire with his horses tied up to some trees near old derilect buildings at Broken Hill. MARKED: TITLED "Old McGipps, Broken Hill". 5 of 60.

QUALITY - FIDDLE BACK SOLID TIMBER - FRAMED MIRROR. This frame is made of the best solid fiddle back timber which is used on high quality violins. The frame corners are beautifully crafted & shaped to enhance the bevelled edge mirror. A heavy item. The craftsman is attributed to be a joiner who worked on the Australian Parliament House of 1927. NOTE: The next lot was this same craftsman.

SUPERB QUALITY - MARBLE & FIDDLE BACK TIMBER WASH STAND & CUPBOARD. The craftsmanship in the making of this fine piece is exemplary. The timber is Fiddle back which is used on high quality violins and this superb piece has two draws on the left and a cupboard on the right with an architectural arch. The highly polished marble as fitted to the back and top has grains of colours of grey, black, white and timber toning. A heavy item. The craftsman is attributed to be a joiner who worked on furnishings of the Australian Parliament House of 1927. NOTE: The above lot had the same craftsman.

19th Cent. ROYAL VIENNA CABINET 'JEWELLED' PLATE. Very fine and superb quality MARKED PORCELAIN plate. The raised design around the outer is divided into six segments. A gilded ribbon bows tops a Ruby jewels and directly below is either Drop-pearls or Lapis Lazuli drops and this is the centre feature of each of these segments . Either side of each bow is a gilded cartouche of nine jade coloured beads or alternatively connecting the ends of each bow are like stylised butterfly wings. One could translate this whole brilliant gilded design as being the complete butterfly. The wings and ruby, lapis and gilded fan being the central body of a butterfly. In between each 'butterfly' are frames dotted in gild, each having a very Victorian classical scene of various musical instruments. This description is not complete, as surrounding this total outside circle of design, is a band of gold with 12 jewels equally spaced. Centered in this perfectly white porcelain exquisite plate is a six pointed star design

"ARTHUR HAMBLIN" - OIL PAINTING. SIGNED. By local artist the OIL is TITLED "AT CAMP". This nighttime scene is of a campfire, illuminating the forest surrounds and in particular the Swagman and his tent, and of course his companion, a Kelpie dog. Signed and dated by the local artist on the back Arthur Hamblin 1984 and has been beautifully framed.

RARE - ROYAL DUX - MAJOR PAIR of FIGURINES. This pair were bought in Lincoln, England and are superb. The "Shepherd" and the "Shepherdess" are extremely well detailed and decorated. The flesh colours are true to life. The Boy is clothed in a bronze-green tunic with a bearskin complete with head, draped across his shoulder, and he is wearing 'roman' type sandals. The boy's friend is a "Billy Goat". MARKED: Pink Triangle. ROYAL DUX BOHEMIA.      E in Acorn. Stamped: Made in Czechoslovakia. Impressed No for boy 1011 & in green 37. The Girl is clothed in a loose fitting bronze-light-brown blouse and a bronze-green skirt. Her hair is tied back and she is wearing a matching coloured scarf on her head, to her skirt. Tied loosely around her waist is an apron which the girl is holding up with her left hand, containing clover and hay for her accompanying lamb. She is wearing similar sandals to her accomplice. In the girl's right hand she has clover grass and hay ready for her pet. Same MARKS as boy accept the impressed no. 1102

VICTORIAN NOVELTY FANTASY CLOCK - Gold finished metal 'Sailing Ship' of a fantasy design. The Captain of this vessel is a CHERUB which are a member of the second order of Angels. This winged child is seated in a commanding position with his flame torch in the aft of the single sail boat immediately above the 'Sailfish' fin like rudder. The boats cargo is flowers. Below the scroll-like curved spit is the mask of a Satyr. The Masthead has a long ribbon like flag and a rope complete with tassels supports the cross-####. The sea is represented by the appearance of waves and the ocean floor with the Scallop shell centered on the base and mythical fish either side acting as feet for the clock. The rear cast-metal stay has been fixed for support. The clock itself is placed central in the sail and is working order.

VICTORIAN (UNRESTORED) BRASS BED with PORCELAIN SPOOLS. This is a Queen size bed which has hand-painted yellow flower sprays on each porcelain spool. There are three spools on the head and six on the foot. This is an original brass bed, and when restored would result in one of the finest of BRASS BEDS you could wish for. Idealy suited for either inclusion of a refurbished Victorian home, or a new country-styled home, with 'Laura Ashley' furnishings. Will look absolutely stunning when the old varnish and dents in the brass are removed! No rails. RESTORER'S DREAM!!!

FRENCH GILDED or ORMOLU PIANO OIL LAMP. Absolutely of the finest quality with ormolu decoration of garlands and bows. The Height adjustment is quite unique.The Font filler cap is marked Belguim, Thermidor Improved. Pat, 1884, and has a sophisticated raising mechanism to cater for lamp lighting. The white glass shade has coloured glass carbichons surrounded by delicate brass inserts regularly spaced all round the globe. This original shade has its brass heat ring insert in the top opening.

ETCHING. SIGNED: B. E. MINNS. - Framed.  Minns, 1864 - 1937 & known for Aboriginal drawings and drew for Sydney 'Bulletin'. Studied under Julian Ashton and was a painting associate of Charles Condor. Subject: "Three Aboriginal Children". Note the centre child attending to the health of one child's hair, whilst the third looks on with interest. Read article  by Robert Holden, 'The Golden Age of Australian Etching' in "The Australian CONNOISSEUR and collector, No 4" where this etching is featured. Minns also associated with Arthur Streeton, Tom Roberts and A.H. Fullwood. The brief efflorescence was rekindled in Melbourne in 1895 when John Shirlow inspired by the etchings of Whistler, Meyron, Rembrandt and others purchased by the NGV in 1881, began experimenting with the craft. The first artist to benefit from Shirlow's example was Lionel Lindsay whose work is currently sought after.

Extremely RARE . MUSEUM QUALITY - TJ.& J. MAYER'S HIGH RELIEF-MOULDED SALT-GLAZE PITCHER in BLUE & WHITE. Bears the Registration Mark for July 2nd 1850. The MARK is Coat of Arms Patent, Dalehall Pottery, Longport. The scene represents depicts a boy climbing and bird-nesting in a tree. In his efforts to reach the nest holding three fledglings, and one bird testing his wings outside this protection; the lad snags his jacket on a branch. Finally, he masters the climb, and the next scene is with him sitting on a branch together with the nest and young birds in his lap, his left hand gripping a branch for security. The mother bird arrives complete with a worm and is clearly distressed. The white porcelain branches inter-twine with the tree trunk of faux blue bark, to form a handle. A most unusual and interesting piece. Refer to the Late Peter Cook's book, The Antique Buyer's Guide for Australia. ( TV program "For Love or Money" panelist & owner of Grafton Galleries, Sydney).
